The Comfort and Grief of Christmas
Sunday 1st December, everyone planning comfy days in and fun nights out. Families have been arranging their dinner for the big day; who will come to whose, who will sit where, who will be bringing what piece of the dinner. Work colleagues are arranging the night out and Secret Santas, and everyone is picking out outfits which will wow. The city is preparing for Christmas and New Year. The shops have begun to display their Christmas themed products - tinsel and trees, decorations and ornaments all designed to catch the eye with glint here and a sparkle there, while joyful Christmas music plays and people hum along. Home windows display Christmas in its full joyful glory, may have already begun to decorate their house turning it into a Christmas home.
